Picturing Pittsburgh

In 2007, The Heinz Endowments paid tribute to that photographic legacy by initiating the Downtown Now Photography Project. Nine photographers spent three years documenting change in Pittsburgh. The first tangible result was Picturing the City: Downtown Pittsburgh 2007—2010, presented from September 2011 to March 2012at the Carnegie Museum of Art. Smith’s vintage photographs from the Fifties were included in this exhibition, revealing his influence on photographers today.
