T he success behind Anatomic Bomb, which has been in business since 2004, is down to long time fetish and vintage fashion enthusiast, Madeline Warren and her love of lavish style and costume. Anatomic Bomb makes latex rubber clothes in the form of sexy mini dresses, uniforms and lingerie among other items which are designed to enhance great cleavage, promote curvy waists and accentuate the peachy roundness of the bottom. The brand also offers advice on sizing, colours and caring for your rubber outfit. The current range includes a special collection of Marilyn Monroe’s famous and not so famous costumes, such as the ‘Seven Year Itch’ and ‘Pink Diamonds’ dresses, to mark the 50 th anniversary of her untimely death. Describing latex clothes as “fantasy clothes that make a big statement but are still wearable”, Madeline sees fashion as “ new ideas and individuality, standing out from the crowd and bringing to life different facets of your personality with costume.” Being a fashion designer, Madeline believes in making clothes that really suit people and that bring out the best traits in a personality. One of the best perks of having her own label is being able to let her imagination run wild. “I can design anything even if I know it will not sell, even if it costs a lot of time and money to make. I can still put it into fashion shows or photograph it and use it as a statement piece.” In her earlier designs, Madeline used a lot of heart patterns which most people still associate with the Anatomic Bomb brand. “People loved them. We have been repeatedly told by customers that they love our clothes as they are very sexy yet lady-like.” The first article of clothing that Madeline designed was a Marilyn Moron latex cupless dress with hearts and matching heart-shaped tassles. Reflecting on her accomplishments as a designer, Madeline said, “I think Anatomic Bomb has changed the look of latex design in general. A lot of other designers that came after us design in the same vein - creating very feminine pieces with details like appliqué, flowers and ribbon lacing, leaning towards classic designs like cocktails dresses.” Madeline is inspired by fashion designers such as Thierry Mugler, Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood due to

their great combinations of powerful, sexy and imaginative designs. She also loves old movie and theatre costume designers like Travilla, Orry-Kelly, Edith Head and Erte. When it comes to naming her favourite models, she replied, “I would not like to single out any girls as I love all our models. They all have different looks, some suit cuter clothes, some suit the sexier clothes. It is fun to match outfits to models; it feels like dressing my Barbie dolls!” The celebrity she would most like to dress is Madonna. “She has made a lot of great fashion statements and has a great look and body. She would be an ideal Anatomic Bombshell.” When preparing for a fashion shoot or show, Madeline ensures that each model has something to wear that suits their personality and style. “I like to make sure that the smaller details are being looked

after. Details which some stylists over- look like boring hairstyles or the wrong shoes can ruin

a whole shoot. It gives off the wrong image.” A fitting is also essential for both clients and models as the garments are made to

measure. “A good quality latex garment should have closures (zips, buckles, etc.) to make it easy to get on and off. Cheaper latex items tend to be pull on which is ridiculous. They are bound to tear.” With a range of styles and a
